How many times has God moved suddenly in our lives?
I can remember a time when I felt I had been praying forever! We had lived in an area where the crime rate began to rise. After 11 years there, we wanted to move to a safer area. My mother-in-law owned the three family home where we rented the second floor apt. She was always there for our children. They adored their Abuela (grandmother).It was a difficult decision for us to move away from her. She lived with her two sons and was very family oriented. I started praying for God to open up an opportunity for my husband in his job for a promotion. I also prayed for a new home in a good school district because our son was entering high school and had attended a Baptist Academy since 1st. grade. The academy did not have a high school, so we needed to concentrate on where he would attend school. After praying for months, my husband came home from work one day and announced that we would be moving to Verona. I didn’t know where Verona was. He said it was a suburban area only 20 minutes from us. He also said he was promoted to superintendent of a senior citizen’s housing.
I knew that God had answered my prayer in his timing. Although it seamed to be sudden; it had already been in motion. Within two weeks, we were moved into a lovely three bedroom- rent free apartment and my husband received a raise. We were across the street from the High School and as I stood looking out across the green field through our window, the Lord reminded me that He was in control.
My mother-in-law told me that we would not move until the Lord was ready to take her home to heaven. Three months after we moved, she was rushed to the hospital and had to have surgery for a blood clot in her leg. Three days later, she went to be with her Lord- who she loved so much. A blood clot was missed and it traveled to her lung. She passed with her Bible in her hands. At the age 76, she went home to be with her savior. My husband was surrounded by many loving seniors who helped him through his loss.
God’s timing was His perfect timing. He had it all under control.
New American Standard Bible
8. And You have not given me over into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a large place.
9. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;
my eye is wasted away from grief, my soul and my body also.
10. For my life is spent with sorrow
and my years with sighing;
my strength has failed because of my iniquity,
and my body has wasted away.
11. Because of all my adversaries, I have become a reproach,
especially to my neighbors,
and an object of dread to my acquaintances;
those who see me in the street flee from me.
12. I am forgotten as a dead man, out of mind;
I am like a broken vessel.
14. But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
I say, “You are my God.”
15. My times are in Your hand;
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me.
16. Make Your face to shine upon Your servant;
Save me in Your lovingkindness.
18. Let the lying lips be mute,
which speak arrogantly against the righteous
with pride and contempt.
19. How great is Your goodness,
which You have stored up for those who fear You,
which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You,
before the sons of men!
20. You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues.
21. Blessed be the LORD,
For He has made marvelous His loving kindness to me in a besieged city.
22. As for me, I said in my alarm,
“I am cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications
when I cried to You.
23. O love the LORD, all you His godly ones!
The LORD preserves the faithful
and fully recompenses the proud doer.
24. Be strong and let your heart take courage,
all you who hope in the LORD.
